La Haut Plantation is ideal for nature lovers seeking tranquility or casual adventure in the unspoiled Caribbean island of St. Lucia.

La Haut is only minutes away from most of the island's main nature activities and many historic sites that provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences;

Beaches
Relax on the volcanic sand at Anse Chastanet, which offers excellent scuba diving and snorkeling facilities. Take a water taxi to the Jalousie beach and see the island from the sea. Best snorkeling on the island under the cliffs by the Hummingbird beach. (20 minutes)

Rain Forest

Breathe in the crisp, fresh air of the rain forest on the Edmund Forest Reserve -Des Cartiers Nature Trail or Enbas Saut Waterfall Trail in Fond St Jacques. Guides explain the abundant vegetation, natural fauna and birds including St Lucia 's National bird, the Amazona Versicolor or the Jacquot, better known as St Lucia Parrot . (30 minutes)

 

Historic Town

Stroll through the sleepy town of Soufriere with its classic colonial architecture - virtually unchanged since it was established as the first town of St. Lucia in 1746. Visit Saturday's vibrant farmer's market (10 minutes)

 

Sulphur Springs

Gaze at the steamy, bubbling Sulphur Springs and bathe in its therapeutic waters (under the bridge) which have been compared to Marseilles, France. (15 minutes)

Waterfalls

Swim or tour Diamond falls, Botanical Gardens, Mineral Baths, Nature Trail & Old Mill said to be the original home of Napoleon's wife, Josephine Bonaparte. Nearby are a number of other waterfalls like the Piton Falls, Toraille or Spyke Waterfalls. (10 minutes)

Sports & Adventure

Climb the Gros Piton Mountain and for the more adventurous the Petit Piton. Views from both are a once in a lifetime experience. Scuba diving under the Petit Piton sheer rock wall has been
described as one of the ten best in the world. Mountain bike, fish, kayak, whale & dolphin watch, bird watch.
Walk on the Wild Side…or simply walk along the main road.

La Haut is 770 ft above sea level and the town of Soufriere is a cool walk down the mountain but a good challenge coming back up even for the fit. If tired, there is always a place you can stop for a drink and relax, or walk to Livity Studio, ½ mile higher up La Haut on the main road for a wide selection of local arts and handicrafts.
